What’s cooking?

I’ll be honest: deciding to start selling “Simon Mas & the Family Issues” as digital downloads (as opposed to waiting some more, until the time was right to press the cds in the format I wanted) was the best decision I have taken in a long time. If freed my mind from the hassle of what to do with the music, and I can now concentrate on the next projects.

I have a few on board right now.

First and foremost, I want to find gigs for the Family Issues. It’s a good trio, and we’d love to bring our music around… so don’t be shy! Help us organizing a gig wherever you are, and you will receive our eternal gratitude, a “super fan” certificate to impress your friends, and most importantly, a couple of free beers to celebrate the night along with free entrance to the gig for you and another person.

Second, I am writing the lyrics for a musical. I cannot say more, for the moment, as the project is at its very beginning. On the other hand, I am too excited to keep it hush hush any longer. The script is solid and the people I am collaborating with (the director and the composer) seems great: the best thing is that we seem to be on the same wavelength… so the result should be excellent!

Third, I am considering starting to put together a sound collage for a friend of mine. She’s a photographer in Rome, and we have been talking about creating a photographic/ music show for a bit now. While she’s busy raising the money to get the project off the ground, I might jump the gun and start assembling some music.

Finally, I have been wondering about the possibility to go into academia again, for a PhD. I miss studying and discussing music with fellow weirdos… ehm… music nuts, so I *might* revise and create some fresh contemporary classical music.

We will see what the summer will bring. For the moment, I hope may ends soon and mid june comes quickly. I have my reasons…
